As a kid, this was one of my favorite television shows. The theme song from The Muppet Show takes me back to the early 80s– to a time of laughter and fun.
I remember hurrying through my bath on Muppet Show night and rushing to get my pajamas on as fast as possible to watch the show before bedtime.
My older brother and I would situate ourselves as close to the television as we were allowed on the soft, rust-colored carpeting in our living room that left a funny texture imprint on our elbows. I remember my damp hair and cartoon-themed pajamas.
The anticipation built as we waited for Kermit the Frog to appear, open that little “O” door, announce the special guest (who would it be?!), and then the song! I never knew all the words but would sing along to the bits I did know.
This song can still make me feel that same sense of electricity and joy I felt as a kid.
