The Fear
A 30-Day Music Memory Series
This morning “The Fear” by Pulp came on, and my mind leaped back in time to memories of driving the winding roads near Lake Tahoe one summer weekend in the late 90s. I lived in San Francisco then and was obsessed with Pulp’s “This is Hardcore” album.
The pace of the song unfolded with each careful curve of the road.
It was an adventurous road trip with no purpose other than driving and exploring. Being from Southern Nevada, I hadn’t spent much time in the Northern part of the state. It’s a very different kind of beautiful up there!
Driving long, lonely NV roads in a little black VW Jetta, following the scenic byways, taking in the beauty of the moment. Singing every lyric to every song on the whole album.
Does anyone still listen to whole albums all the way through?
