Some Background

Ken and I both have backgrounds in digital product design and general Apple nerdery. We met by working on projects together. His talent was immediately apparent to me despite his struggle with severe depression.

He wasn’t designed for the corporate environment.

The first independent app he worked on was spawned from a need to make money for basic living after stress, depression, and auto-immune challenges shut his body down.

Wheelchair-bound, he had an idea for and designed his first independent iOS app and built it with a dev partner. It did well, but his dev partner had higher priorities at the time, so the upkeep dwindled.

He shifted his focus elsewhere.

He found his stride in making stuff for himself and learned how much food and diet impacted his auto-immune challenges. After a year of changes to his work environment and diet, he was lucky enough to ditch the wheelchair.

Auto-immune challenges still strike in new and interesting ways, but he’s learned pretty well over the years how to course-correct…
