My “Live” Podcast Experiment–Here’s How It Went

As a self-proclaimed professional experimentalist, I learn a lot through personal challenges and share along the way. Here’s my challenge framework:

• Pick a challenge
• Define a timeline
• Do the work
• Review (what worked/what didn’t)
• Repeat (for further learning/development) or Move on

Late last year, as I was completing my first book through a series of self-set challenges, a company called VoiceAmerica reached out to see if I wanted to do a live show with them. (It was a sales pitch.) It was $4k for 13 live episodes; they handle all the recording, broadcasting, uploading to multiple podcast networks, etc. I own the rights to everything I create. I decided to try it out.

All I needed to do was show up during my ‘live’ time window, provide 56-minutes of live content, and I could optionally even provide my own ads. I didn’t do that part. It seemed too weird.

Here’s what my challenge looked like:
