All I Have to Do Is Dream
A 30-Day Music Memory Series
Our family made a lot of long road trips when I was growing up — many, many trips to Southern CA and a few North to Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. My parents had pretty broad music tastes, but both loved hits from the 50s. I still love The Everly Brothers, and my dad loved to sing along to “All I Have to Do Is Dream.” This particular song sticks in my mind for a funny reason.
My dad went through this phase of learning Morse Code.
This meant listening to Morse Code practice tapes and my dad tapping on his little Morse Code practice oscillator while on many of these long trips.
Hours of ‘Beep-bebbebebeb-beep-beep-bebebebe-beep” and nowhere to hide.
Nothing on Earth made me more grateful for the sound of this song. Sweet sanctuary for my ears. ❤
